IWC chose to focus on the Portugieser collection, a collection inspired by 1930s pocket watches that offers a rich selection of complications, sizes, metals and colors. The new releases include three new versions of the fan-favorite IWC Portugieser Chronograph Replica, now available with Horizon Blue, Obsidian and Dune dials.
The three new dial hues were chosen to represent different times (and moods) of day and night. Horizon Blue, housed in an 18k white gold case, symbolizes an afternoon sky without mood-depressing clouds. Dune, paired with a stainless steel case, echoes the evening, specifically that beautiful golden hour of the day when everyone looks great. To create these dials, a sunburst finish is first added to a brass base, followed by the color and 15 coats of clear lacquer. The surface is then finely ground and polished to achieve a high gloss finish. There are a pair of pump-type chronograph pushers around the winding crown, and a sapphire crystal window on the back provides a glimpse of what’s going on inside.
